Sofia’s Senior Experience by 33 Park Photography
We spent some time with Sofia a couple of weeks ago. A native of Brazil, she’s here on the island gettin’ her international skills polished up, her tennis game fine tuned, her finance career in gear and her Hilton Head Prep diploma in hand! We spent a little time here in the studio and then headed off to the courts of Wexford Plantation for some on location exposure! With Sofia in front of the camera we just had to make sure the camera was focusing and the lights were firing…she did the rest! Stunning! Thanks Sofia!

For her Senior Experience we kicked around the Inn at Harbour Town, the Harbour Town Yacht Basin then shot over to Tower Beach for some beach landscapes. Great job Emilee and thank you for being….you!

How to Photograph Fireworks
Well here we are at the beginning of the long awaited Fourth of July holiday! Of course, there will be the usual food troughing and adult beverage consumption, but just in case you have a little extra time on your hands and feel like getting creative, I thought I’d share a few pointers on shooting your fav fireworks extravaganza! Nothin’ too techy, just some basics.
Things you’ll need.
1. A camera with manual exposure control. (you can use a fully automatic camera, but you’ll get shots your FB fans will cringe at!)
2. Some basic knowledge of said camera.
3. A sturdy tripod or immoveable object…oh…and a cable release if you have one…you’ll be glad you did!
4. Gas (for the car) and cash (for you).
5. Respect for explosives! Please remember this one!
…keep scrolling….
How do you do it?
1. Put the camera on the tripod, turn the camera on and format your memory card.
2. Select M for manual, set your camera to f/2.8 (or the smallest number you have), ISO 800-1600 and manual focus if you have it, assuming you’re shooting full view not telephoto.
3. Now the only thing you’ll need to adjust is your shutter speed. The shots you see here were captured with speeds between 1/15 to 3 seconds. Play with this a bit early on in the fireworks display and you’ll be good to go when the good ones show up.
4. Timing is everything here, so anticipate your shots and be on the shutter release like a lottery winner on a ticket!
Hope this helps! Give it a try and let us know how it goes! Happy Independence Day y’all!

A Beautiful Bridal Portrait Session by 33 Park Photography
Just last week, we had the opportunity to photograph future bride and client, Laura Marie Blisk, on location at the Berkeley Hall Club in Bluffton, SC. Laura was having a hair and make up trial run done by Hair Designers at the Village of Wexford and so we took advantage of her looking awesome, slipped on her dress and got to work on some creating some beautiful images for a stunning bride to be! Indeed! Wedding photographs to come…..
A Berkeley Hall Wedding by 33 Park Photography
We had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Abby Gehrlein and Joe Bolmarcich at the Berkeley Hall Club last weekend. What an awesome wedding at a beautiful venue! Abby was the most laid back bride ever and was simply stunning! Joey has his own unique style and kept their guests loose and laughing. The wedding party, numbering 24, was a collection of life long friends of both the bride and groom. How cool is that! The reception went off without a hitch under the direction of Berkeley Hall’s own Maren Rogers and her staff. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Bolmarcich for allowing us to capture your beautiful and heart warming wedding day! You guys are awesome!

Essential Wedding Photography by 33 Park Photography
Welcome to 33 Park Photography & Gallery, a Hilton Head Island based photography studio and gallery. We are the husband and wife team of Bo and Suzanne Milbourn and we are so pleased that you have found our little slice of the web. Bo is the principle photographer and Suzanne is the chief client and style officer. We are primarily a lifestyle photographer, meaning we photograph people. We have found that the cycle of life begins with the little ones and comes ’round to family portraiture. (click here to check out our website!) We are so pleased to have photographed those who have returned to us from generation to generation, from birth day to wedding day. This is good stuff!
We understand that you have a choice of great photographers out there. But regardless of which photographer you choose, be sure they ask you this one simple question:
What is the most important thing to you about your wedding day photography?
And that brings us to your special day! Your wedding day photography is so important to us. Perhaps more so than it is to you. We realize that what we create for you is possibly the most tangible reminder you will have of this special occasion! Sure, you know it is too, but you’ll be up to your veil in details leading up to your big day. The dresses, the flowers, where is everyone, how’s the weather, the cake…you know, stuff like that. Our hope is to be as invisible as possible. We like to blend into the event. Well, as much as we can, since we carry around big cameras. But you get the idea. We get to know you ahead of time whenever possible. Even by Skype if we have to, because it’s really important that we have a relationship of some kind before your wedding day. You see, by doing so we can dive right into our work. We know what you expect and you know what we need to capture the essence of one of the biggest days of your life! When it’s all said and done, we’ll be connected for life, as friends, as it should be.
We’ve put together a brief photo/video (which we create for all of our full day coverage brides!) of just a small sampling of our work below. Please take a couple of minutes to check it out!
So what sets us apart from the sea of photographers you’ll come across? Well it’s hard to answer this question without a little bias, but the biggest single difference we know of is our guarantee. That’s right, our guarantee.
We guarantee our wedding photography!
If you are not satisfied with the photography and service we provide, we will refund your investment in us. Ask the other photographers if they’ll do this for you. Hey, this is a big deal and we don’t take it lightly and neither should you. We want you to have peace of mind with your choice of service providers and we stand behind our work!
We only photograph up to 30 weddings a year, so please contact us as soon as you have your date or dates in mind. If you have any questions about venues, or cakes, or flowers and such, feel free to ask as we know the best around. We’re excited about the upcoming wedding season here in the lowcountry and look forward to getting to know you better. You can reach us by email, facebook or phone. We look forward to working with you. Thank you for considering 33 Park Photography!

How Create A Panoramic Photograph.
Since I was on a roll with the Lunar Eclipse thing and couldn’t really get back to sleep due to Suzanne’s antics, I decided to head out early to see if I could ‘shoot the moon’ setting over Harbour Town. I’ve been meaning to post some more technical things and thought this would be a good technique to share. Step 1: Camera, Step 2: Tripod, Step 3: Good Subject. That’s all there is to it! Read on….
I created these four shots by ‘panning’ one shot at a time on tripod being careful to keep the ‘horizon’ consistent from image to image and made sure to overlap the shots as well. The exposure for all four images were shot in RAW 1/2o sec., at f 5.6, ISO 400. What’s really important here is to NOT change your f-stop between exposures as this will affect depth of field. Probably not a big deal with this subject, but it might. It’s just a good rule of thumb to follow. I could have decreased my shutter speed with the left side of the image as the sun hadn’t quite gotten there yet, but I chose to make the exposure adjustments in post production. I shot these with my Canon 30D as I was really set up to shoot the details of the moon, but brought along a shorter lens, cuz you just never know. Glad I did.
From here it’s a software thing. I used Adobe Bridge to do the ‘Photomerge’ here and created a jpeg file that looked like the image below. I selected the ‘Reposition Images’ and ‘Blend Images’ options to get things dialed in. This can also be done in Photoshop and I believe Photoshop Elements as well. Can’t speak for any other software, as Photoshop is my darkroom.
From here I made my adjustments. Leveled to the visual horizon, in this case, the basin waterline, cropped to my liking and made some simple exposure adjustments via layers (that’s a whole other topic). So when you get that spankin’ new camera for Christmas and aren’t sure what to shoot, give some panoramic shooting a try. When you get something you like, give us a call! We’d love to see it, and if you’d like to have it printed, we can do that for you too. Merry Christmas and happy shooting!
‘A New Walk’ by Mr. Quin Rawls
Had the distinct pleasure of spending some time with, and photographing, Mr. Quin Rawls last evening. Quin is a multi-faceted man. He’s not only a talented musician, but is also the a spiritual leader of his congregation in Bluffton, a husband and father. Talk about chill…this is the man! Quin recently signed with a record label to produce his upcoming CD release this spring. Of course, image is everything, and that’s where we come in. Did a little in studio stuff then headed out on location to capture his title image for his CD entitled, ‘A New Walk’.
